Local School Bus Policy

***********************************

Bus Services: Buses are provided for off base students to travel to and from school each school day.  All parents/guardians of school age dependents who live off base must personally register their dependents with the school transportation officer (at the high school, bldg. 691) prior to enrollment.  This registration is necessary to ensure the availability of school transportation.  Please address any questions or comments regarding bus transportation to the transportation officer at DSN 268-3891.

Seat Belts on School Buses: It is now law in Britain that if seatbelts are fitted on a school bus, passengers must wear them.  All of our buses have seat belts and the transportation officer is enforcing this requirement for the safety of the children.  Please tell your children about this and emphasize that wearing seat belts is for their own safety.  It is also noticeable that when the children are belted up, it contributes to good discipline on the bus.

School Bus Behavior:  Students are expected to behave themselves on the school bus.  Sponsors are ultimately responsible for the behavior of their children on the school bus. For the most part, our children are well behaved on the school buses.  However, sometimes misbehavior has to be dealt with.

School Bus Suspension: Suspension from riding the school bus does not include suspension from school.  If your child is suspended from the bus, then you are responsible for getting the child to and from school.

The following is a list of conduct that is not allowed on the bus.  These actions and any other conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline may draw a suspension.
